Chakra meditation: a guide for each energy center

One practice per center, timed step by step — no playlist required, no claims beyond what a sit can honestly do. Each one works through the quality its chakra answers to: weight, warmth, heat, breath, vibration, steadiness, silence.

Chakra meditation is structured attention: you place awareness at one of seven points along the spine and hold it there with breath and sound. Strip the vocabulary away and that is still a real activity with real effects — attention warms what it rests on, and each of the seven regions is tied to a territory of ordinary life. The root to safety and money, the sacral to appetite, the solar plexus to will, the heart to connection, the throat to speech, the third eye to judgement, the crown to meaning.

The seven practices below share a skeleton — arrive, locate the center, breathe into it, sound its seed syllable, do one thing specific to its territory, return. What changes is the quality of work: the root practice is built out of weight, the throat practice out of humming, the crown practice out of deliberate silence. Each page gives the full timed script, the posture, the common failure mode, and what to watch for in the days after.

Where to start

With the center that is blocked — and if you are not sure which that is, that question has a tool: the chakra test asks eight questions about how you actually live and names the strongest signal. Failing that, start at the root. The system is built bottom-up, the root practice is the easiest to feel working, and everything above it sits more steadily once it runs.

One center for two weeks beats a rotation. These practices work by repetition, not intensity — twelve minutes daily at the same center compounds; a nightly tour of all seven stays a pleasant blur.

A written guide holds the structure. If something specific keeps surfacing when you sit — a person, a decision, a loss — a live reader can look at it with you — first minutes are free →Affiliate link — we may earn a commission at no cost to you.

Questions

How do you meditate on each chakra?

The core method is the same at every center: sit, bring attention to the chakra’s location in the body, breathe into that region, repeat its seed sound on the exhale, and finish with one step specific to that center’s territory. What changes per chakra is the quality — the root works through weight, the sacral through warmth, the solar plexus through heat and action, the heart through breath and grief, the throat through vibration, the third eye through steady attention, the crown through silence.

Which chakra should I meditate on first?

The one that is blocked — which usually announces itself in ordinary life: money anxiety points at the root, flatness at the sacral, procrastination at the solar plexus, scorekeeping at the heart, swallowed words at the throat, fog at the third eye, meaninglessness at the crown. If nothing announces itself clearly, start at the root; the system is built bottom-up, and the root practice is the easiest to feel working.

How long should chakra meditation take?

The practices here run ten to fourteen minutes, and daily short sits outperform occasional long ones — the centers respond to repetition. Working through all seven in one long session is a different exercise: pleasant, but diffuse. Picking one center and staying with it for two weeks produces more feelable change than rotating quickly through the set.
